Vitamins, like minerals, are found in the foods and beverages that we consume every day. Unfortunately, with the proliferation of processed foods fewer people are getting the recommended daily allowance of these necessary nutrients. A common practice among people interested in balancing their diet is to supplement what they eat with vitamins. Vitamins can be purchased in a variety of forms, from tablets and capsules to liquids, at just about every drugstore, health food store, and department store. The most difficult task facing people today is choosing which type of vitamin to take. Making that decision requires an individual to understand some basic differences between hard vitamins and liquid ones.
While any form of vitamin is likely to be better than none at all, liquid vitamins have a distinct advantage over pill forms because of how much quicker and more effectively they can be absorbed. Some experts have estimated that only 10 to 20% of the vitamins taken in pill form are absorbed and used by the human body. On the other hand, the human body is able to absorb 90 to 95% of vitamins that are taken in liquid form. That makes liquid vitamins not only a more effective choice, but a better choice financially as well.
Liquid vitamins do not have to spend as much time in the stomach being subjected to acids before they are broken down and absorbed by the body. Hard vitamins, which are vitamins that come in pill or tablet form, are often full of ingredients that provide no nutritional benefits whatsoever. The production of tablet or pill vitamins requires a manufacturer to add protective coatings, dyes, artificial flavorings, and sometimes even hydrogenated oil. This means that a pill that a person believes to be 100% nutrition is actually made up mostly of filler.
Liquid vitamins have also proven to be much easier to take on a regular basis for people that do not like the taste of chewable vitamins. Often times, liquid vitamins can be purchased in a variety of flavors that even children will be willing to take on a daily basis. The fact that liquid vitamins are absorbed so much more quickly and effectively by the small intestine means that there is less product, and therefore less money, that goes to waste. Liquid vitamins also can be purchased that contain antioxidants or that have anti-inflammatory properties which can help a person fight off infections and sicknesses.
